New Patient Registration

Register with West Walk Surgery as a new patient

How to register

Check you live within the boundary area

We have an open list and welcome requests from patients living within or moving into the practice catchment area.

To access our registration process, first check you are in our catchment area. If you have any questions about your eligibilty join this surgery please contact us.

Temporary services

If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can receive emergency treatment from the local GP practice. If you still require treatment after 14 days you will need to register as a temporary or permanent patient.

Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.

If you require immediate and necessary treatment from us and are not registered within the area, please phone our Care Navigators on 01454 272200

You will be required to fill in our secure online form. Please only fill in this form if you have been asked to do so by the practice.

Your named GP

Last year, West Walk Surgery informed all of our patients over 75 of their named accountable GP. This year our contract with NHS England extended the requirement to provide a named accountable GP to all patients, rather than just those over 75. The contract remains “practice-based”, so overall responsibility for patient care has not changed.  The role of the named GP is to take responsibility for the co-ordination of all appropriate services and ensure they are delivered where required (based on the named GP’s clinical judgement) to each of their patients. The named GP will deal with all correspondence received from hospitals and other organisations regarding your care, and will review any repeat medication you have.

Having a “named GP” does not mean that this is the only doctor or clinician at the practice who will provide you with care. You do not have to see your named GP when you book an appointment; you can continue to feel free to choose to see any GP or nurse. If you need to be seen urgently this may be with any of the doctors working that day.
If you have a preference for your named GP please let us know and we will make every effort to accommodate this request.

We have been informing patients of their named GP on an ad-hoc basis on contact with the practice.  If you want to know who your named GP is, please ask our receptionists who will be happy to help.
